The Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins came to Town. A very Young team. 3 of their Stars are 20 years old or less.
Jordan Staal - 18 Years Old.
Sydney Crosby - 19 Years Old.
Evgeni Malkin - 20 Years Old.

The Sharks are also a young team. Young teams have fast legs. Fast legs go well in the new NHL with the new rules less than 2 years old. I like it when the Sharks play teams similar in style and make-up to theirs. Makes for a Great game.

1 minute into the game Cheechoo gets tossed for a Game MisConduct. Retaliation from Crosby on Cheech immediately set the tone for the rest of the Game. There were 10 penalties in the 1st period alone. These teams do not know eachother AT ALL, but this meeting had elements of a Rivalry to it.

I am absoluetly amazed at both Crosby and Malkin. Huge Baby Hockey Wonders. Just mind-boggling how well these kids play. This goal on Brodeur was Incredible. Malkin made Brodeur look Silly. Brodeur is the former #1 Team Canada goalie so…

To get a taste of Crosby, who last year in his first NHL season got 100 Points!!!…check out what he does in a Junior League of his a few years back. Thats him behind the Net. I have never seen anything like that EVER!!!

Penguins have a great future in front of them.

But the Sharks Won.
McLaren put the body on Malkin with a nice hip-check. We scored key goals and our Defense stepped up when needed to slow down those two wonders.

  1. [...] Hockey ! added an interesting post today on The Pittsburgh Penguins [...]

  2. The Pens have to decide how they can keep this young squad together because there is no doubt that money will soon get in the way. With Cap room now in effect talent is hard to keep (Just look at Hossa). Malkin is a player who will impact any team he plays for and might want to get out from the shadows from the kid. Also there goaltending seems like it could be coming together with first pick Marc-Andre Fleury struggling for the first half of the season and now coming into form.

  3. You really hit some points there Stan, thanks fer posting !

  4. The pens are set for the future, look for them to be a consistent Stanley Cup contender this year and in the future.
